Do you sometimes forget to listen to the words because the music is so good? I've always noticed that some people use music as background noise while they socialize. Hey you guys be quiet this is a good song!

I'm a drummer and everytime I hear a song I try to learn it, if I like it. Now, that I have learned to play and have had my life turned around by a higher power, Jesus Christ, I pay a lot more attention to the lyrics.

I don't want to mention any names because I understand that some groups are reaching the lost and compelling them to come in with evasive lyrics but, for the Christian who already knows the gospel message, these songs don't provide any growth.  Different styles are necessary but, I believe they should be singing about how God changed their life and not sing from the rebel's perspective.

I've heard songs from my rebellious days that sounded like they were crying out for help and we should answer their cry with, The Answer.  We should be careful not to relate too much of our past and never say, "But you don't have to stay there."  So many christian artists don't mention the name of the Lord or even the title, "God".  Yes, we need to proclaim that our Lord is Jesus the son of Almighty God in heaven because some people have a different name for their god.  Notice the small g in god for anyone other than the Creator of All That Is Seen And Unseen.

I got away from the negative attitude by listening to one of the best christian rock groups that were around when I got saved.  "Stryper"  Thank God they grew out of the glamour rock style of costumes and make-up (bright lights make you look pale) from the 1980's. They are more mature now but they sound just as good, in fact, I think they sound better than ever. They are not afraid to name the God that makes them want to sing, Jesus!

Be sure to check them out at Amazon.com.  I recommend the Live in Puerto Rico DVD to watch and listen to these guys Praise the Lord Stryper Style.  You can also listen to samples of their music on Amazon.  That's a cool feature allowing you to hear what the group sounds like before you make a purchase.

Remember, Matthew 10:32 states:  Whoever confesses Me before men, him will I also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

Romans 10:9,10  Confess Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God (Our Father) raised Him from the dead and you will be saved.  For with the heart, one believes and is made righteous and with the mouth one confesses (Jesus as Lord) and is saved.

Don't be afraid to crank it up when they say, Jesus makes me wanna sing!
